Alex

Next time you get your groceries bagged for you, check out the finer details.

Ensuring that your cold is cold and that your dry is dry is something we all take for granted at the grocery store nowadays. At Kroger on Euclid, Alex sees to it that you have confidence in all he has to offer when it comes time to bag your items. He has created a method that he has found great success with.

“Bagging is my favorite,” he says. Alex feels that he has developed his own style of order and grouping to maintain the best experience one can bank on when they yank their bags out of their car to put them away.

“(People) say that they were happy that ‘I’m very neat’ when I’m bagging,” he shared. Not wanting to give away his secrets too easily, Alex was happy to explain his process. “I put in the boxes and the frozen stuff first. Then the cans and the fragile stuff.”

Alex set out on a job search in April, not sure of what career he really wanted or how to go about it. The speed at how he landed his job was astounding, because although he was relatively shy discussing his personal goals at first, he eventually shared ideas with his Job Development Specialist Scott Baker in a job target creation.

That opened a few doors immediately to career paths which made him slightly nervous at first.

Alex landed a few immediate interviews with employers that he felt would not be a good fit after his initial interview. He was happy to give them a trial--as they were him. That is when Alex knew he had confidence in what he really wanted the most in his job search.

Then along came Kroger.

Alex was a chosen applicant and was happy to find a job where he could utilize many of his skills, including helping others, stocking, packaging, gathering, and cleaning. He knew he would not get bored and found a business that had room to grow, as well as allowing him to thrive doing many different skill-set abilities. In less than two months from his first meeting with his Job Development Specialist, he found an ideal part-time position.

Consistently scheduled three to four days per week now over the past six months, Alex has become a veteran member of the Kroger Family and feels he can satisfactorily be himself and is surrounded with co-workers and management that care for him, as much as he does the customers.

“Some of my managers thank me when I’m getting carts. I like my co-workers. We all get along.”
