Nicole

Meet Nicole. Nicole was referred to Do-All, Inc.'s employment services to pursue employment where she could "help people". After landing a part-time job as a caregiver, Nicole continued to seek additional employment in hopes of securing a full-time position, which lead her to apply for a position here at Do-All, Inc. Nicole has been a great addition to our team, creating meaningful relationships with the individuals we serve & being willing to cross-train in different departments. Read Nicole's story below:

"I wanted to find work for the money mostly, to pay my bills. I was trying to figure out how to get into a job just like this one. My passion has been social work, but I didn’t see going to college in my future. I really enjoy caretaking and this position fulfills that need. My role as a Support Specialist meets all my desires.

My case manager at MPA referred me to Employment Services at Do-All, Inc. While working with my Job Development Specialist, a position at Do-All, Inc. came open and she encouraged me to apply. I was then called for an interview (I still have the voicemail) and I felt good about that experience. I got a call a couple of days later and was offered a part-time, Support Specialist position. Of course, I accepted! Then at my 30-day evaluation I was offered full-time. It was a Godsend.

Working with Do-All, Inc., I felt heard and that was important to me. When I first met with my Employment Specialist, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I needed to try something. My Employment Specialist listened to all my woes and concerns. We met every week for an hour, putting in applications, working on interview prep and trying to figure out what field I wanted to be in and what I was qualified for. My Employment Specialist was very patient and if we needed to meet more than once a week, she would do her best to fit me in. If I needed a pep talk, she would take the time for the call, or call me back.

Where people with disabilities are concerned, the need for good advocates are needed, and Do-All, Inc. does that. Now I’m one of those advocates under the Do-All, Inc. umbrella and I like where I’m at.

I like the relationships I’ve formed from my colleagues to clients. Spending time with the clients has been eye opening about social issues. Disabled people seem to care for each other and are willing to help one another. That gives me hope for the human race. If they can treat each other so kindly, why can’t we, ya know? I’m able to pay my bills and have a little left over to do fun things with my daughter. If feels good to have some control over my life now. I’m happy to have this job and I don’t dread going to work. We laugh a lot and that means so much."
